Aaah… my first outfit post>>
So what it my style? I will describe it as Globally Ghetto- street style with a dash of culture clash. I combine different clothing aspects, styles, and cultural fashion and make it my own. In the past, I tried to stay up to date with the latest fashion trends and styles but keeping up with the latest fashion comes with a price and costs a lot of time. One day, I woke up and decided to dish out all of the common fashion magazines and fashion blogs I follow and focus on the ones that promote a personal style identity. It took me months to find my own identity and another two years to not be ashamed of my style.
Yes, I was.
On the first day of high school I wore my favourite outfit to school; black skater skirt, a white and black t-shirt with neon-yellow coloured knee socks (I was and still am very into anime, so, knee socks are a personal favourite). While walking down the halls of my school I heard laughter. I turned around to see what the buzz was all about, and it was me. Senior year students were pointing and laughing ridiculously loud at me! My insecurity took over, it crushed my soul and I then tried to adjust my style to their ‘normal’ standards. After a few months of feeling like I was fitting in my I’on cur (I don’t care) attitude was bugging me and I found the courage inside myself again to wear what I wanted to wear for me, and not for anyone else (easier said than done). After several years of developing my personal style, I have now notice that I receive a lot of compliments on my fashion and I really believe that how I dress is a clear representation of my personality. It’s me.
